Dear Friend,

Thank you for your continued confidence in the work PA Family Support Alliance (PFSA) does to make communities throughout the Commonwealth safe places for children to live, grow, and thrive. Our mission to prevent child abuse and neglect remains our focus; that will never change, and we are beyond grateful for your financial support of PFSA’s acclaimed Blue Ribbon Champions for Safe Kids Award events and the accompanying flag planting events in Harrisburg and Pittsburgh.

We have been following local, state, and federal guidance on public gatherings, as well as the advice of our nation’s leading medical experts. Further, as you may have heard, Pennsylvania has taken proactive measures to try and prevent the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), including closing the Capitol Complex to all public events until further notice. As a result of these factors beyond our control, and as disheartening as it may be, we are cancelling all Blue Ribbon Champion events in Pittsburgh on April 1st and those in Harrisburg on April 4th & 8th.

We are sorry that we are unable to host our annual ceremonies and flag plantings in April; however, we know that placing the safety and well-being of staff, volunteers, and participants above all else is the right decision.

The award winners for our Blue Ribbon Champions for Safe Kids have been chosen by an independent panel of judges, and they are remarkable individuals! We are looking forward to presenting the winners with their awards and recognizing their outstanding contributions at our Child Abuse Prevention Symposium which will take place in Harrisburg on September 29. We hope your schedule will allow you to participate and help us recognize these remarkable citizens who help keep children safe from harm.

Once again, thank you for helping us protect to Pennsylvania’s children. Because of your support, there are parents in every region of our state who have become better parents. There are professionals and volunteers who know how to identify and report child abuse. There are community members who know exactly what to do when a child in their midst is not safe.

PFSA understands that the country is facing an unprecedented medical situation and ask that you honor the sponsorship commitment. The truth is, we need your help now more than ever to continue to provide our essential programming across PA. We are promoting your sponsorship on PFSA’s website, on the Blue Ribbon Champion for Safe Kids website, via social media, and in next week’s special edition of our newsletter. Of course, we’ll be promoting you—and thanking you—again in September!

Thank you for standing with us in this challenging and unprecedented time.

With deep appreciation and gratitude,

Angela M. Liddle
